The Village Park Revitalization begins with a cornerstone feature: the new Tot Lot, a safe, inclusive, and engaging play space designed especially for toddlers and young children. But this isn’t just about early childhood—it’s about creating a family-friendly environment that supports active play and exploration for all age groups.
From toddlers to teens, and parents to grandparents, we envision a vibrant gathering space where families can grow, connect, and play together. This project includes accessible playground equipment, shaded seating, interactive learning features, and programming designed to foster movement, creativity, and social development across generations.
This Tot Lot will be built by the community—for the community, with support from local families, businesses, and organizations who believe in the power of parks to shape healthier, happier lives.

Village Park stands as a testament to the spirit of Winthrop Harbor—built by the community, for the community. It has long served as a gathering place for neighbors, families, and friends, offering a welcoming space for all to enjoy. Thanks to a generous $150,000 grant from the State of Illinois, championed by State Representative Joyce Mason, we are excited to take the next step in revitalizing this vital community space.
The funding will allow us to install new, inclusive playground equipment designed specifically for young children. This enhancement will create a vibrant tot lot—a safe, imaginative, and developmentally appropriate playground for children aged 2 to 5 years old. The tot lot will give families with young children a dedicated space to connect, play, and grow together in a fun and supportive environment.
We are well underway in reaching our goal, and momentum continues to build thanks to the support of our residents and partners. To fully realize this vision, the Village is actively seeking additional community sponsorships and donations to expand the project. With your help, we can ensure that Village Park remains a cherished, inclusive, and accessible destination for generations to come.
