Parks and Rec Department's Community Impact
Just as water, sewer, and public safety are considered essential public services, parks are vitally important to establishing and maintaining the quality of life in a community, ensuring the health of families and youth, and contributing to the economic and environmental well-being of a community and a region.
Public parks and recreation agencies create healthy communities and play a fundamental role in enhancing the physical environments in which we live. Through facilities, outdoor settings, and services provided, they support good health for people of all abilities, ages, socio‐economic backgrounds and ethnicities.
Parks and Rec Advisory Board
The Parks and Recs Board acts in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and the Board of Trustees on all issues concerning recreation programs, parks, park buildings, athletic facilities, grounds, and equipment. The Members of the Parks and Rec Board also assist in hosting various events throughout the year and attend monthly meetings.
The Mayor appoints these members with the advice and consent of the Village Board.
